The Case Studies described below are based on information provided by companies located in South America. Each study has been written in collaboration with employees of the company and Preactor International would like to thank those who provided these insights into how Preactor is used and the benefits it has provided.

TAKATA operates in the automotive sector with the production of components and assemblies such as safety belts, airbags, steering wheels and other parts used in the interior of virtually all major automotive manufacturers in the world.
WOW Nutrition is a company operating in the consumer goods area with a focus on healthy food and drink products (Beverage, Diet and Light and Infant Nutrition products). With a pioneering and innovative strategy, the company began operations in 1999 in Brazil with the launch of Caferazzi, the first ready-to- drink cappuccino.
With a turnover of approximately 46.1 billion euros and about 281,000 employees distributed in its 225 factories, Bosch operates in the Automotive Technology, Industrial Technology, Energy and Building Technology and Consumer Goods. To meet the needs of dies and molds in its production areas, Bosch has its own tooling.
Mueller Stoves, one of the new business units of Muller Group, was established in 2001 and to produce different items ranging from stoves, domestic ovens and cook-tops stoves. Today the unit has grown to about 518 employees in 94 000 m2 of built area, producing about 118, with a capacity of about 70,000 units per month.
Parnaplast Plastics Industries Ltda was founded in 1974 and is considered one of the best flexible packages manufacturer in Brazil, being reference of quality and competence in the flexible packages segment.
Currently a leading pharmaceutical supplier in Brazil, Libbs was founded in 1958 in the city of São Paulo. Fifty years in the market, marked by continuing expansion, granted the company a renowned position and the company’s history is imprinted with R&D culture.
Cebrace is the result of a joint-venture between two of the major groups producers of flat glass of the world: Saint-Gobain (France) and NSG (Japan), which acquired Pilkington in 2006. Founded in 1974, Cebrace gathers in its manufacturing process the know-how and technology of two giants of the glass sector. This puts it in the position of a leading company in the Brazilian market of the flat glass segment.
Hercules Electric Motors Ltda., which specializes in the production of electric motors and special frequency inverters, began operating in 2005. During this period the milestone of three million motors produced was exceeded.
Currently HENN is one of the largest furniture manufacturers in Brazil, with more than 890 direct employees, in a constructed area of over 70,000 sq. m, in a modern manufacturing plant.
The Rudolph Usinados S/A was created in 1965 focused on the manufacture of tools for watchmakers. Currently the company is a reference in the machining industry, providing high quality machined products for various industries, including the automotive and appliances.
Operating for over 85 years in the identification market, HACO is recognized as the market leader in textiles labels and has an extensive portfolio of solutions that meet different market segments, exporting to over 30 countries.
EMS has been the leader in the pharmaceutical sector in Brazil for the last seven consecutive years. EMS commercializes products in practically every field in Medicine, through the production and sales of more than 2500 products such as Medical prescriptions, OTC (over the counter) products, generic medications, brand-name drugs and products specific for hospitals.
Metalúrgica Fey is one of the largest manufacturers of fasteners in Brazil. Recognition has been achieved through its extensive range of products supplying the markets, such as bolts and nuts, agricultural equipment, motorcycle, automotive, central pins, spring clips and special parts.
D&D Manufacturing Ltd., is a small company based in Diadema (Brazil). Its business is focused on drawing and cold rolling, straightening, grinding, polishing and stripping of special steels, stainless steels and other specialty alloys.
KLL started producing suspensions and mechanical components for commercial vehicles 25 years ago. Its factory is located at Alvorada’s Industrial District, near Porto Alegre (RS/Brazil), where a team composed of 250 people develops suspensions using advanced technology.
Located on an 6500m² area in the city Dourados, on Mato Grosso do Sul state, Inflex stands out on Brazilian market for its flexible packaging production, operating on many sectors. EPCOS AG, the group business based in Munich, Germany, is the leading manufacturer of electronics components, modules and systems.
With more than 30 years in the Argentine market, Grupo Tornado S.A. manufactures and markets components for pneumatic equipment and similar items under the Intor® brand.
With annual revenues of around $3m, Herrbaiers is a classic example of a successful small and family business. The key is their continuous investment in technologies and management to enhance its customer service levels.
Located in the city of Erechim, north Rio Grande do Sul state, the Plaxmetal LTDA enterprise produces plastic and metal parts their main product line being chair kits (for assemblies) and spare parts for workstations, schools, residences etc.

Produtos Elétricos is focused on the telecommunications sector selling into North America, Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America
Boticário develops and produces perfumery and cosmetic products with over 3,200 brands in stores in Brazil, divided between almost 900 franchises the largest network in the world in this sector, generating direct and indirect jobs for almost 22 thousand people.
With 39 years of history, Telasul is one of main steel furniture manufacturing companies in Brazil and sells more than any other in several markets.
The Flexoprint Company was founded in 1997 and has been manufacturing labels since 2000. It is considered one of the most comprehensive suppliers in the labeling market, holding a wide variety of products such as labels and tags with or without adhesive, molded sleeves, as well as mono and laminated films in small or medium batch sizes.
Located in Luziânia/GO, Brazil, BRASFRIGO S/A, is one of the largest Brazilian food companies, offering a wide range of quality products and traditionally recognized by the market. In operation since 1990, BRASFRIGO markets their products nationallly and internationallly. They have four brands: Jurema, Jussara, Tomatino and Terrabella, covering approximately 70 products including canned vegetables, tomato products, sauces, soups and dressing (mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard). In addition they manufacture a number of brands for large retail chains
Artis Matriz is a small company specializing in the design and manufactur e of injection mould tools for thermoplastic and thermosetting materials as well as for metal stamping, and general precision machining.
UNICASA is a company in the furniture sector at Bento Goncalves, one of the most important centres of this sector in Brazil. The group comprises the brands DELL ANNO, NEW and FAVORITE, with over 1,100 stores throughout Brazil.
Tabone has been supplying door handles and plastic edge banding for the furniture industry since 1988. Its manufacturing plant is located in Caxias do Sul (Brazil), a region known for its strong engineering and furniture industries.
With representation in every continent, Susin Francescutti Metalúrgica S/A is a leading manufacturer of crankshafts and camshafts for the automotive sector. Since its founding in 1954 it has been providing its products to many of the largest truck and car manufacturers around the world.
DAPSA (Destilería Argentina de Petróleo S.A.) is a manufacturer of petroleum products including lubricants, greases and asphalts. The company’s oil lubricants and greases are mainly produced for the big petroleum companies in Argentina such as Repsol, Total, Fiat Lubricantes, Castrol, Agip, Esso, etc. with the remainder being used for their own brands.
Laboratorios Raffo is a pharmaceutical company with more than 110 years experience in the Argentine market and a strongly commitment to healthcare and its promotion. Headquartered in Munro, Vicente López, the company has 2 other locations in Buenos Aires with its main manufacturing facility located in San Juan province.
Founded in 1988 in Porto Alegre, Multilab Industry and Trade of Pharmaceuticals is located in São Jerônimo (RS). The location concentrates all production lines and centralizes the logistic operations. Multilab manufactures generic and brand-name drugs, and also OTC (Over-the-counter) and prescription drugs, sold in retail packaging or directly to hospitals.
Britanite is a company located in Quatro Barras, in the state of Paraná, Brazil. Here, over a site of around 2.35m sq.m, it manufactures nitrogen based chemical products such as civil explosives, detonators and other defence materials.
Founded in 1977, Digicon S/A is a subsidiary of the Digicon Group, formed by three companies, Perto, Digicon and Numericon. Located in a pant covering 100,000 m² in Gravataí, Brazil, the companies work in the development, production and commercialization of products and services in the areas of industrial, commercial and banking automation. Starting in 1986, the company developed a special department for producing aircraft components inside the Digicon S/A, the DCA. Currently, this unit is responsible for production and commercialization of approximately 90 sets of Air Conditioning valves for English Hamilton Sundstrand aircraft.
With 20 years of experience in the metals and mechanical engineering sector, Cortiaço produces small, medium and large structures, including machinery and equipment for cutting, machining and heating. Their current headquarters is located in the city of Gravataí, Brazil and provides services that deal with the all aspects of a project including the equipment construction, transportation and installation on site. For the production processes the company employs a team of approximately 150 employees, in a plant of some 5,000 square meters. In addition to the manufacture of equipment, the oxy-cutting services, machining and heat treatment departments also provide a service to other companies.
Medabil started business in 1967, and since its founding, has constantly increased its participation in national and international markets, always looking for technological innovations to meet the expectations of its customers. Currently, Medabil is focussed on the design, construction, and assembly of metal buildings pre-engineered for industries, shopping malls, supermarkets, multi-storey buildings and distribution centres, among others. Medabil is becoming the national leader and one of the largest companies in this sector in Latin America. The company has a wide range of products with solutions for the main and secondary structures, tiles for roofing and side closures, steel decking, lighting systems, insulation, and ventilation systems for large buildings.
The Metallurgical Flantech Ltda, founded in 2005, in the city of Caxias do Sul, Brazil is 130km from Porto Alegre, and is focused mainly on the production of exhaust system components for the automotive industry. Currently, the company has 10 employees, and their specialty is the production of large diameter special stainless steel short pipes and tube. Its products are delivered to major suppliers linked to car manufacturers from the centre of the Brazil, and also, more recently, outside the country. The components manufactured by Flantech can be found on brands, such as Volkswagen, Ford, Peugeot, Renault, Citröen, and General Motors.
The Inplac - Plastic Industry SA produces high quality flexible plastic packages, giving special attention to products with high technological content and, therefore, greater added value. The main type of packaging produced is the low density polyethylene to the markets of fertilizers, lime, limestone, thin mass and mortar. Founded in 1974, and located at Biguaçu, Brazil, the company is distinguished by the constant search for innovation. Several products and processes were developed in a pioneering way, with great technical and commercial success.
Teikon was founded in 1996, and two years later started operations in Porto Alegre, Brazil. With the slogan "The Strategic Alliance in Manufacturing of Electronic Products", Teikon seeks to place themselves among the 70 largest ECMs (Electronic Contract Manufacturer) in the world in 2008. The focus of the company is EMS - Electronic Manufacturing Services, taking over the logistics and industrial chain of their customers, allowing them to focus on their core business, in product development, marketing, sales and promotion of its brand.
Grendene is the largest injected footwear manufacturer in the world and have the largest footwear factories in Latin America. They export to 90 countries and their products are seen in almost every show shop window around the world. Their products are aimed at the mass distribution markets for Men, Women and Children.
Mega Embalagens was established in 1995 in Salvador do Sul, a small town just 100 km from Porto Alegre, the capital of Rio Grande do Sul in Southern Brazil.
Klabin group is the largest producer, exporter and recycler of paper in Brazil. It is the market leader in packaging paper and board, corrugated boxes and industrial sacks, and also produces and sells timber logs. Founded in 1899, today it has 17 plants in Brazil and Argentina.and is organized in four business units – Forestry, Paper, Corrugated Packaging and Industrial Sacks. In 2007 it had gross revenue of R$ 3.4 billion (U$ 1.8 billion) and a net profit of R$ 621 million (U$ 345 million), an increase of 31% over the previous year.
The electrical switch is an essential part of any electrical appliance and this is the focus of MarGirius Electric who design, develop and distribute switches and connectors for low tension electric energy. Based in Porto Ferreira, São Paulo, Brazil, MarGirius is one of the largest manufacturers of electrical switches in Brazil.
Marisio and Co. Ltda. manufactures high quality electrical products for the domestic and office markets. Based in Santiago City, Chile, the company operates out of a modern facility covering more than 8,000 sq.m. Here 200 employees, engineers, technicians and production staff, design, develop, manufacture and distribute more than 3,500 products.
Established more than 65 years ago Sotreq is an exclusive reseller of Caterpillar equipment across 70% of the country of Brazil. It also provides after-sales service including maintenance and repair with the largest of these centers being based in Contagem/MG where its HQ employs some 300 people.
Located in Espírito Santo, Brazil, Companhia Siderúrgica de Tubarão (CST) is a world leader in the semi-finished steel market and is part of the Arcelor Group, one of the largest steel makers in the world. CST-Arcelor Brazil is the 11th largest Brazilian exporter and is responsible for 12% of worldwide sales volume for steel slabs.
Procter & Gamble is perhaps one of the most well known and certainly one of the largest companies in the world. Their portfolio of trusted brands, include Pampers, Tide, Ariel, Always, Pantene, Bounty, Folgers, Pringles, Charmin, Downy, Iams, Crest, Actomel and Olay.
Founded in 1960, Eliane Revestimentos Cerâmicos is one of the largest producers of ceramic coatings, selling more than 1600 products to around 85 countries around the world. Eliane employs some 2,400 people across 12 plants in various parts of Brazil and in 2002 their revenue was about US$ 140 million.
FMC Technologies, Inc., a spin off company from the machinery portion of the FMC Corporation, founded some 100 years ago making world class products, is a global leader in mission-critical technology solutions through its industry-leading businesses that include FMC Energy Systems, FMC FoodTech and FMC Airport Systems.
B & S Oil Tools is an engineering company making high quality equipment for the on-shore and offshore oil industry. Their main customer, Petrobras, one of the top 10 oil companies in the world, demands high specification equipment that can withstand the highest pressures in highly corrosive environments.
